INEC OFFICIALY ANNOUNCES RESULTS FOR THE 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is holding a press conference in Abuja. The first official announcement of the first batch of results is happening now.

The results of eight states and the FCT have been announced so far:

INEC TO PAY YOUTH CORPERS N32,000 FOR ELECTIONS


The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen.Johnson Olawunmi, and the Independent National Election Commission's (INEC's) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, have admonished corps members billed to participate in the elections to shun inducement and that INEC are to pay Youth Corpers N32,000 For Elections

The corps members were assured of prompt payment of their allowances before and after election duties.

Reading from Brig.-Gen. Olawunmi and Prof. Jega message to the corps members at the Lokoja Township Stadium in Kogi State, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Olabanji Agatha, urged them to build on the success of the 2011 elections and make the nation proud.

With their academic exposure, she said, a high sense of patriotism and integrity was expected from them.

Each participating corps member will receive N32,000 for the March 28 and April 11 national assignments.

The message also reads: "As corps members, who have been exposed to a high academic knowledge, ideals and objectives of NYSC, it is expected of you to handle this critical assignment with a high sense of patriotism, integrity, diligence and responsibility."

FINAL COLLATION OF PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS TO COMMENCE TOMORROW (MONDAY)


The final collation of results for the presidential and National Assembly elections will commence at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Collation Centre, Abuja, by 12 noon on Monday, March 30 Premium Times reports. 

This was announced by the INEC Deputy Director, Publicity, Nick Dazang, while speaking on a programme on the African Independent Television Sunday night. tomorrow
He said collation of results is currently at the various levels in all the states and that results from only two states could be said to have come in.

Dazang said the Commission took the decision to commence collation on Monday at a meeting its officials held shortly after its chairman, Attahiru Jega, briefed the press.

The 2015 presidential elections is seen as a two-horse race between President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former military head of state Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

BREAKING NEWS: TWO KILLED AS BOKO HARAM ATTACKS POLLING UNITS IN GOMBE. (WARNING: GORY GRAPHIC CONTENT)



Two people have been killed at two polling units in Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state this morning by Boko Haram members.


According residents of the villages, they said suspected members of Boko Haram stormed the polling units, attacked the electorates and killed two people. An election official under anonymity, said: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?’”.

A woman has been caught with thumb-printed electoral materials this morning in Lagos.It was reported that the woman, identified as a woman leader of the All Progressives Congress Lagos East was caught moving thumb-printed electoral materials in a yellow-coloured bus at about 12:15am.

The number plate of the apprehended bus is FKJ450XJ. Alhaja (Chief Mrs.) Basirat Olayinka Ojugbele, is also a Lagos fabric merchant and top socialite who emerged as the APC’s women’s leader of Ojokoro land in Lagos last year. See the alleged electoral materials below and the woman.

BOMBS DETONATED AT POLLING STATION IN ENUGU

There was pandemonium today as two bombs were detonated a 8.56am at the WTC primary school polling station in Enugu North local government area by operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu police command.

Reports by The Advocate  had earlier indicated that there was a bomb blast, with no casualties reported as the bomb exploded before the election commenced.

The bombs were planted in a Honda Accord car and parked behind the WTC primary school by unknown people awaiting the commencement of voting.

However, Vanguard reports that two bombs were detonated at 8.56am at the same location by the operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu police command.
The newly posted commissioner of police, Dan Bature, confirmed the incident at the scene, saying,’three bombs were found in a Honda Accord car with registration. Number KUJ 971 ABJ.
“One of the bombs exploded while we have just successfully detonated two. It was an Improvised Explosive Device, IED. We do not know who plant it.

“We are working assiduously to unravel the identity of the suspects. The suspects abandoned the car at the entrance gate. We are working to get the area safe.”

The situation has now been normalized but accreditation is yet to commence.

The official website of the Independent National Electoral commission has been hacked by a group of individuals who identify themselves as “TeaM Nigerian Cyber Army”. 

On opening the official INEC website which leads to the homepage, it will be noticed that the site has been taken over by cyberterrorists who mock the security protecting the website.

ROBBER KILLED AFTER STEALING N950,000 CHURCH OFFERING IN EDO

Two suspected armed robbers who stole N954,000 church offering, from St James’ Cathedral Bishops’ Court, Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state, were shot and killed by operatives of the Edo State Police Command on Tuesday.
They were shot dead by the police while trying to escape interrogation.
The third suspect who was the informant that led to the robbery is currently being detained in police custody for further interrogation.
According to PM Newspaper, the third suspect who was adopted by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Jolly Oyekpen and his family, informed his other two partners in crime about the N954,000 in the Bishop’s Court.
The money was said to be from offerings which is yet to be paid into the church’s bank account.

ELECTION HUSTLE: WOMAN BUSTED AFTER TRYING TO SELL PVC'S IN KADUNA

A woman in her mid-40s was on Tuesday arrested by men of the  Nigeria Police Force while attempting to sell Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). She was arrested following an alarm raised by the women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of the Kabala ward in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The women leader of the ward Hajiya Hajara Mairiga told the police that the suspect, whose name could not be ascertained as at press time, came to her house Monday and told her that she has her PVC and some other people’s own for sale. Surprised by the disclosure, the woman leader raised the alarm and the attention of the police at the Kabala Costain was called to the matter and the suspected was arrested.
The case was thereafter transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police force where the suspect was detained for further investigation.

Almost 30 countries around the world are “highly vulnerable” to an Ebola-style epidemic, with Somalia, Chad, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Haiti most at risk, Save the Children – a major charity group – said on Tuesday.
An increasingly mobile global population makes deadly outbreaks more likely, with the emergence of two new diseases a year that can be spread between animals and humans making stronger health systems crucial, Save the Children said.
The charity’s report comes as political and development agency leaders gather in Brussels to discuss the Ebola crisis that has killed nearly 10,000 people and infected almost 24,000 others, according to latest World Health Organisation (WHO) data.

NIGERIAN SINGER NNEKA DISSES GEJ ON CNN

Nigerian international singer Nneka, has shared her thoughts on President Goodluck Jonathan and his postponement of the general elections in a recent interview with CNN.
According to her, Goodluck Jonathan should have dealt with the issue of Boko Haram before the elections that was scheduled to originally hold on February 28.

FG APPROVES N2.4 BILLION TESTING TOOLS FOR AUTOMATIVE COUNCIL

The Federal Government on Wednesday has approved a request by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment for the award of contracts by the National Automative Council (NAC) to procure auto testing laboratories equipment and tools to be installed in designated laboratories in Lagos, Enugu and Zaria.
The decision was taken at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Supervising Minister of Information, Edem Duke; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga; Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; and Minister of Environment, Labara Malam, briefed State House correspondents of the meeting’s outcome.

WHY THE MOVIE 50 SHADES OF GREY WAS BANNED IN NIGERIAN CINEMAS

Barely a week after the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) had banned the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, the board have given reasons as to the removal.
According to Nation Newspaper, NFVCB has now cited ‘public interest’ as reason it has banned the movie in Nigerian cinemas.
The board, according to reports, further reaffirmed its resolve to attend to submitted movies with utmost dispatch and the display of due diligence in its role as the industry gatekeeper.
Apparently a total of 23 movies were approved in December, 2014 and January, 2015 and Fifty Shades of Grey was not one of them.

50 JAMB CANDIDATES ARRESTED IN BENUE

The Benue Police Command on Monday arrested 50 candidates of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for violent protests and stoning of security officials.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Hycinth Dagala, said the police intervened to prevent breakdown of law and order when the candidates started throwing stones at JAMB officials.
According to him, the stones injured one of the security guards and a police officer attached to the office.
“The candidates numbering over 300 today approached the JAMB Zonal Office in Makurdi and demanded their print-outs.
“The JAMB officials pleaded with them to come back after one hour for their JAMB slips, but that they refused and started throwing stones at the officials and security operatives.
“They injured one police officer, a security guard and some women who were selling food around the office and also burnt tyres on the road,” the commissioner said.
Dagala said the police rushed to the scene and arrested 50 of the protesters in order to calm the situation.

Seeking to shape up this summer for your fall sport? These six stand-up exercises, when combined with good nutrition and adequate sleep, will help tone your abs, build muscle throughout your body, and improve your balance and muscle endurance.

Equipments

Moderately heavy medicine ball or dumbbell (about 70-80% of your one-rep max)
Stopwatch, wristwatch, or nearby clock with a second hand
Water bottle (for hydrating before, during and after workout)
Bench or chair
Guidelines (Think "Six" For That Six-Pack)
Perform all six exercises in six minutes (Do six supersets. Perform just one set per exercise without resting between exercises)
Perform six reps per exercise
Rest 60 to 90 seconds after completing all six exercises to hydrate, then repeat the six-minute cycle
Start with an upper- and lower-body warm-up. Finish with cooldown upper- and lower-body static stretches for flexibility


Stand-Up Exercises Single-Leg Squats
Hold dumbbell or medicine ball overhead and perform Single Leg Squat six times, then switch legs. This promotes balance and strengthens core muscles (abs, lower and middle back); quadriceps; hips; hamstrings; and shoulder and arm muscles. Learn more about the Single-Leg Squat.
