INEC POSTPONES ELECTION IN 8 CONSTITUENCIES IN BAYELSA

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has postponed today's elections in eight constituencies in Bayelsa state to next week Saturday, April 18th. 

According to the states Resident Electoral Commissioner, Baritor Kpagih, the postponement was due to insufficient supply of sensitive and non sensitive materials from INEC headquarters in Abuja.

A young Nigerian man named Oyekoya Yemi on March 30th began a bike ride from Abidjan in Ivory Coast to Lagos Nigeria to create awareness for the missing Chibok girls as well as to mark the one year anniversary of the girls in Boko Haram captivity. He will be on the road for 15 days, from March 30th to April 15th. He shared photos of his journey so far on twitter.

4 NIGERIAN STUDENTS FOUND DEAD IN THEIR APARTMENT IN GEORGIA

Georgia as in the country in Eurpoe and not the state in the US. Four Nigerian students, (two pictured above. The other two after the cut), were found dead in an apartment on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi yesterday night Wednesday April 8th.  Three of the boys were students at Tbilisi State Medical University and one at Georgia’s University.

Police are saying the boys died from gas poisoning due to a faulty water heater in their apartment.

Producer and Rapper Jesse Jagz has returned to his former record label Chocolate City. 

Jesse Jagz quit the label which is home to his rapper brother M.I. Abaga 3 years ago after the expiration of his record deal.  He founded his own label, Jagz Nation and soon dropped albums that had fans praising his decision. It will be recalled that Chocolate City boss, Audu Maikori had earlier announced plans for the 10th anniversary of the label, saying a re-union was in the works, and now he's finally back.

D'BANJ FAILS TO APPEAR IN COURT

The first sitting of D’banj ‘s court case held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Multi-door Courthouse, Obalende, Lagos, with the award winning entertainer conspicuously absent. According to reports from the NET, D’banj was represented by his lawyer, Dele Adeshina, who was represented by a junior lawyer from his chamber. The claimant of the case, Henry Ojogho, was also not present in court. After deliberations, the presiding judge, Justice (Mrs.) Oyebanji adjourned the case till May 7, 2015.

In November 2014, Henry Ojogho, Vice Chairman of Broron Group and Vice Chairman of MindHub Technologies, claimed that he borrowed D’banj a certain amount of money N60m, and refused to pay at the stipulated time as at when agreed. He further claimed that D’banj issued two bounced cheques – one on December 20, 2013, and another on January 20, 2014.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is holding a press conference in Abuja. The first official announcement of the first batch of results is happening now.

INEC TO PAY YOUTH CORPERS N32,000 FOR ELECTIONS

The Director-General, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen.Johnson Olawunmi, and the Independent National Election Commission's (INEC's) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, have admonished corps members billed to participate in the elections to shun inducement and that INEC are to pay Youth Corpers N32,000 For Elections

The corps members were assured of prompt payment of their allowances before and after election duties.

Reading from Brig.-Gen. Olawunmi and Prof. Jega message to the corps members at the Lokoja Township Stadium in Kogi State, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Olabanji Agatha, urged them to build on the success of the 2011 elections and make the nation proud.

With their academic exposure, she said, a high sense of patriotism and integrity was expected from them.

Each participating corps member will receive N32,000 for the March 28 and April 11 national assignments.

The message also reads: "As corps members, who have been exposed to a high academic knowledge, ideals and objectives of NYSC, it is expected of you to handle this critical assignment with a high sense of patriotism, integrity, diligence and responsibility."

FINAL COLLATION OF PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS TO COMMENCE TOMORROW (MONDAY)

The final collation of results for the presidential and National Assembly elections will commence at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Collation Centre, Abuja, by 12 noon on Monday, March 30 Premium Times reports. 

This was announced by the INEC Deputy Director, Publicity, Nick Dazang, while speaking on a programme on the African Independent Television Sunday night. tomorrow
He said collation of results is currently at the various levels in all the states and that results from only two states could be said to have come in.

Dazang said the Commission took the decision to commence collation on Monday at a meeting its officials held shortly after its chairman, Attahiru Jega, briefed the press.

The 2015 presidential elections is seen as a two-horse race between President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former military head of state Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
