Being a curvy girl is a powerful and awesome thing you should embrace and enjoy to the max. We give you the staples of a curvy girl fashion you must check out.
Plus-size embodiment is at an all-time high in today’s fashion scene. Everywhere you look, you see OAP's and models like Toolz, Tess Holliday and Nadia Aboulhosn rocking pieces that we “bigger” girls would never have dared to wear.
How do they do it? What are their styling secrets? Keep reading to find some tips and tricks I picked up from the girls themselves and some tricks I’ve picked up on my own along the way. These are curvy girl fashion secrets.
1. Having Confidence

Tess Holliday made history when she was the first model of her size to be signed with a major modeling agency. In an interview for Today, she says, “It’s all about accepting yourself the way you are now and loving who you are today”.
As clichéd as it may sound, the easiest—and sometimes hardest—way to rock any outfit is confidence. You have to feel amazing to look it. You will never please everyone, so stop dressing to impress others. If you want to wear that orange jumper, wear it, and know that you look damn good doing it! Why? Because, you feel good wearing it and it shows.
2. Stopping the Comparisons.

I am heavier than a lot of my friends. The one thing I have had to teach myself throughout the years is to stop comparing. We are so quick to assume that just because someone is smaller or has longer hair, or whatever it may be, that they don’t struggle with confidence issues. Or, even worse: we judge them for it.
Like when your skinny friend says, “I feel so fat today!” and you literally want to ring their neck? Or, when you are both wearing the same thing and you feel uglier or not as cute. Stop!
We have to remember that everyone has something they are not 100% comfortable with. When you think that someone else is perfect or flawless, remember: even Beyonce has farted in front of Jay-Z! No one is perfect.
You want to wear a bikini? Do it! Don’t worry about what your friend is going to wear or what people are going to say. As long as you feel fabulous, you will look just as fab—no matter what size you are.
The beauty of this world is that we are all different. We are all unique. We all have that one thing that sets us apart from everyone else and it’s time we embrace it. As Tess Holliday says, “Eff your beauty standards!”
It doesn’t matter how big or small you are, embrace whatever makes you beautiful; if you don’t know what that is, ask a friend. I guarantee you they will have a list of amazing qualities you possess and will be more than happy to remind you of them. Because, after all, friends are there to remind us how beautiful we are when we can’t quite see it for ourselves.

3. Finding Your Style

I am usually pretty easy to shop for when it comes to style: I love it all. However, I do tend to lean more towards boho-chic pieces. The long frilly skirts, floral patterns, shawls—I love them all. However, on any given day, you could easily catch me in a pant suit and heels.
Finding a style doesn’t mean confining yourself to a specific category or genre of clothing. It’s about finding what makes you feel good while wearing it. Is there a favorite pair of shoes you enjoy wearing? Do you prefer your hair in a certain style?
Don’t be afraid to claim it as your own. Go outside the lines, find your signature piece of clothing/jewelry or way to wear your hair and rock it!
4. Picking a Signature Piece
When deciding what to wear or setting up your outfit, choose a focal piece. If you’re rocking that LBD for your date tonight, wear some red heels or pair it with a red lip. Wearing a pair of jeans? Switch it up and wear some pumps to keep you feeling sexy.
Jewelry is another great way to incorporate color and a little edge to your look. Want to spice up an everyday outfit? Try a chunky necklace or a jeweled headband to add a little something extra without going over the top.
5. Mixing Patterns

I have found that a lot of us “bigger” girls feel the need to wear only dark colors. While it is true that dark colors are slimming for every body type, that does not mean that brights and patterns are the opposite. I love seeing a chestier girl wearing a bright floral top or dress with a cinched belt, showing off those curves.
I am also currently obsessed with mixing patterns and textures. A cute striped skirt and a polka dot top or a cute fuzzy sweater and some sequin shoes? #Ioving. Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and experiment with new styles.
6. Accessorizing

Accessories are definitely an understated part of any outfit. People don’t realize how the perfect pair of earrings or a couple of cute midi-rings can drastically change an outfit. This is another area you have free range and infinite options to play with. Don’t be scared to mix metals, add some color and rock whatever you’re wearing!
At the end of the day, no matter what you wear or how you wear it, you need to feel good and comfortable, and remember how hot you are! When you are happy with your appearance, it shines through and shows on your face and how you carry yourself. You’re a queen: don’t forget that! Love it. Embrace it. Rock it!
