The event kicked off with the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, donating the sum of N2bn. However, Mr. Joseph Makanju, representative of the Chief Fund Raiser and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote said his boss was currently not in the country and didn’t make a mandate for donation, but assured that once he (Dangote) is back, he will reach out to the PDP national chairman, Adamu Muazu, and make his donation.

In his remarks, Jonathan thanked the donors and assured them that the funds ”would not be wasted or misused.”

“I thank everyone who made donation tonight,” said Jonathan. He also described the day as a special one, adding that the donated funds were for the PDP and would help to run the party better.
