UNILORIN Admits Only 12,650 Out Of 114,700 Students For 2014/2015 Academic Session

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, on Monday said only 12,650 students out of 114,700 applicants gained admission into the institution for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Ambali, who disclosed this in Ilorin at the university’s matriculation ceremony for fresh students, said the institution was witnessing an influx of applicants having been rated the best in the country and 20th in Africa.

The vice chancellor disclosed that only 41, 470 applicants scored 180 marks, saying this was the minimum requirement that qualified them for the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening.

He said that those that passed the post-UTME screening and qualified were only 22, 601. “The total number of admitted international students were 80 and the total number of admitted students were 12, 650,” he added. Ambali charged the new students to “arise and fly,’’ obey the rules of the university and shun cultism, warning them that it could lead to expulsion.
